LINDA STAR LANDON

Award winning artist, Linda Star Landon, has always created art in one form or another.  She has been a professional artist for 25 years.   Linda grew up in coastal Southern California, then spent many years in the Northern California wine country, and now lives in the Sonoran Desert near Tucson, Arizona.

Vivid colors and bold textures are the distinguishing features of her signature style.

“ My art is not only about the subject matter, it is also about the beauty of the medium.  Oil paint applied with a palette knife has a really beautiful texture, and its so much fun to do!  “

Linda’s paintings are loved by their collectors all over the USA.  Some have gone to other countries including Canada and China.

Linda was recently awarded Signature Status in Women Artists of the West, a national professional artists’ association.

Inspiration

The beauty all around me!

Techniques

My approach is very traditional.  I usually use more than one reference photo to assemble the elements I want in a painting.  I start out with several sketches and sometimes a little color study to help work out the decisions about color and design.  Once these things are decided I can devote myself to the joy of laying luscious oil paint on canvas.

career highlights

The best things I have ever done as an artist are:   Showing my art at the Art-A-Fair Festival in Laguna Beach, CA. ,   Doing quick pastel portraits at Disneyland, and teaching portraiture at Fullerton Community College community education.
