This saguaro lives near my home near the library. As with all my paintings it is full of dramatic bold textures. This is one of my new series of Earth Reclaimed paintings. What does that mean? Gamblin art materials recently introduced 3 new colors they call Reclaimed Earth colors. They are made from the run off waste from mines. I just love them! They are very earthy and deserty. So I have incorporated them into my palette and there is at least a tiny bit of a reclaimed earth color in each of the color mixtures I use. Plus, just for fun, I go outside and grab a pinch of desert earth and sprinkle it on the wet painting!
